It has been reported that Celtic are looking to offload Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo after he broke quarantine rules, and that Leeds left-back Douglas is ‘high up on their shortlist’ to replace the 25-year-old left-back.
The report has added that Amiens SC have made a loan offer for Bolingoli-Mbombo with an option to buy the Belgian next summer for a transfer fee of £2.3 million.
The Belgian, who can also operate as a left-sided midfielder, joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £3 million.
Good signing for Celtic?
Douglas is a very good left-back who has done well at Leeds despite his injury problems and has played his role in head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s side clinching automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The 30-year-old – described as “a top, top player” by former Leeds midfielder Andy Hughes on Talking Shutt’s official YouTube account on March 26, 2019, as covered by HITC Sport here – would not be fazed at the prospect of turning out for a big club such as Celtic, having played for the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Whites.
