Celtic are in the market for a new director of football, and a very interesting name has emerged as a top target.
The Daily Mail report that Celtic are looking at Huddersfield Town’s David Webb, eyeing him to come in and work alongside Nick Hammond and Gary Penrice.
Webb previously held key recruitment roles at Ostersund and Tottenham Hotspur, though a link to his time at Bournemouth seems most interesting here.
Webb worked closely with Eddie Howe at Bournemouth, helping bring key signings to the club, such as striker Callum Wilson.
Why is that so interesting in terms of Celtic? Well, Howe himself has been linked with a move to Parkhead, with The Sun claiming Celtic’s interest.
Neil Lennon looks likely to leave Celtic this summer, which would leave the Bhoys in the market for a new manager after a disastrous season.

The opportunity to reunite Howe with Webb could be very appealing to Celtic, and may even be a clever selling point from the Bhoys to land both men in a double swoop.
That may not be in Celtic’s plans right now whilst Lennon is still in the job, but if they do have hopes of landing Howe, then securing Webb would surely increase their chances of luring Howe to Glasgow.
