Celtic are reportedly keen on defender Amir Rrahmani.

According to La Derniere Heure in Belgium, Celtic are in the race to sign Dinamo Zagreb defender Amir Rrahmani this summer, battling Amiens and Standard Liege.

Rrahmani, 25, has made a name for himself in Croatia with RNK Split and now Dinamo, notching three goals in 15 league games this past season having emerged as a decent goalscoring threat from set piece.

The Kosovo international – formerly of Albania – stands at a giant 6ft 4in tall, and it’s believed that he’s available for a maximum of €2million (£1.75million) this summer.

French side Amiens and Belgian outfit Standard Liege are also keen, with Standard allegedly leading the race having already entered negotiations about a deal.

Celtic need defensive help this summer, with Dedryck Boyata moving on to Hertha Berlin and loanee Filip Benkovic heading back to Leicester City, meaning the Bhoys are losing two star centre backs for nothing.

Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic enjoyed a strong end to the season, but with Jack Hendry unlikely to feature much if he’s still at the club, Celtic need to find centre backs.

Taking a calculated punt on Rrahmani for a bargain price may be a smart idea, and Benkovic himself may well approve of a move having played alongside Rrahmani in the centre of the Dinamo defence during their time together in Croatia.

If Celtic have Rrahmani high on their wish list, they may need to move quickly, with Standard taking steps to win the race, and his price tag makes him hard to ignore having impressed in Croatia.
