Celtic are set to miss out on Aaron Hickey to Bayern Munich, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Scottish Premiership giants Celtic are interested in signing Hickey from Heart of Midlothian in the summer transfer window.

However, according to the report, the full-back is on his way to German and European giants Bayern.

It has been reported that this season’s Champions League semi-finalists believe that they are close to reaching an agreement with Hickey over a five-year contract, with the Hoops unlikely to match the offers from Bayern or other clubs from abroad.

However, according to the report, Celtic will get 25% of any transfer fee, having let him leave for Hearts in 2018.

Big move for Aaron Hickey

Described by former Hearts manager Daniel Stendel as “an extraordinary talent” who is “like Philipp Lahm” in The Scottish Sun this month, Hickey is a hugely promising left-back who will improve a lot in the coming years.

The Scotsman is only 18 years of age, and joining a big club such as Bayern would be huge for him.

While it is hard to see Hickey go straight into the Bayern first team next season, the left-back could get his chance if he does well for the youth side.
