Rangers are reportedly set to beat Scottish Premiership rivals to Motherwell’s Jake Hastie.

It seems that Celtic have missed out on one of the most exciting young talents in Scottish football. To make matters worse, they have lost in the race to bitter rivals Rangers.

According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers are on the verge of signing Motherwell’s Jake Hastie on a pre-contract agreement before his current deal at Fir Park expires. Celtic had also expressed an interest in the current Scottish Premiership Player of the Month but it seems he is bound for Ibrox rather than Parkhead.

Hastie has been in extraordinary form since returning to Motherwell in January following a loan spell at Alloa Athletic, scoring five goals in eight games. But it’s not all bad news for Celtic. After all, they might already have a fresh-faced winger who is even more talented.

Daniel Arzani, after all, arrived last summer amid huge expectations. The youngest player at last summer’s World Cup, the 20-year-old earned rave reviews last year after a staggering debut season in Australia, earning a move to Manchester City of all teams before arriving in Glasgow on a two-year loan.

And though his first Celtic season was ruined by a cruciate ligament injury, he is expected to return in pre-season and will be hoping for a fresh start under a new boss after struggling to win over the now-departed Brendan Rodgers.

If Arzani can find fitness and form, there is no reason to believe that Rangers’ prospective new signing will not be upstaged.
