The January transfer window may be some time away yet, but Celtic are seemingly making plans after a disappointing summer window.

Brendan Rodgers didn’t quite get some of the targets he wanted, and then saw Moussa Dembele leave for Lyon on deadline day in August.

Rodgers may be keen to bring in some new signings in January, and it seems that the Bhoys are looking to raid Serbia’s biggest club.

The Daily Record report that Celtic sent scouts to watch Red Star Belgrade in Champions League action against Napoli on Tuesday night, seemingly looking for potential signings.

Red Star turned in a superb display to earn a 0-0 draw, and Celtic may have been impressed with a host of names in Vladan Milojevic’s side.

Right back Filip Stojkovic would make sense given that Celtic duo Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa, whilst defender Milos Degenek and midfielder Goran Causic were also in the side to face Napoli.

However, one Red Star player has already been linked with Celtic, as the Daily Mail reported last year that the Bhoys wanted to land forward Richmond Boakye after a superb run in Serbia.

Boakye hit 39 goals in 48 games before making a shock move to China with Jiangsu Suning in February, and after just three goals in 16 games, he returned to Red Star in August.

The Ghanaian hitman already has two goals in two games for Red Star since his return, and having lost Dembele, Boakye could be back on Celtic’s radar as a potential target for next summer, given that he has already made one move this season.
