Turnbull was in action for Motherwell against Kilmarnock at Fir Park in a behind-closed-doors friendly match last Friday.
The report has claimed that Celtic chief scout Nicky Hammond watched the 21-year-old midfielder in action, as the Scotland Under-21 international played for an hour.
Last summer’s interest
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic wanted to sign Turnbull from Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell in the summer of 2019.
However, according to the report, the youngster’s £3 million+ move to the Hoops fell through when a medical raised an issue in his knee, which affected him for most of this past season.
Celtic move this summer?
Described by former Motherwell manager Stuart McCall as a player who has “got terrific ability” in The Daily Record in February 2020, Turnbull is starting to get back to full fitness, and he will be hoping to get back to his best next season.
While the midfielder would make Celtic a better team in the middle of the park, he might not want to switch clubs now and might want to stay in familiar surroundings for one more season.
