According to Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, Celtic have shown an interest in Sampdoria right back Bartosz Bereszynski.
It’s claimed that Bournemouth have been long-term admirers of Bereszynski, and their aren’t out of the race despite suffering relegation.
Southampton are keen too, and it’s stated that Celtic have been ordering their scouts to gather reports on Bereszynski.
It’s unclear just when this will have happened though. Celtic don’t particularly need another right back right now, with Jeremie Frimpong and Hamed Abd Elhamed already at the club.
Celtic may well have been keen on Bereszynski last summer when they desperately needed a couple of right backs following Mikael Lustig’s exit.
The Bhoys signed three in Elhamed, Frimpong and Moritz Bauer, and though the latter was only on loan, he doesn’t particularly need to be replaced.
The only way a move for Bereszynski really makes sense is if Neil Lennon sees Elhamed as a centre back moving forward, with the Pole eyed up to compete with Frimpong.

Bereszynski is now 28, and was actually involved in controversy with Celtic once upon a time. Bereszynski – then with Legia Warsaw – came on as a substitute against Celtic in 2014, but was ineligible to play and handed a Celtic a Champions League qualifying reprieve.
Fans may remember his name from that situation, but he has been a regular in Italian football for three-and-a-half years now, turning out more than 100 times for Sampdoria.
A move to Celtic seems unlikely this summer, but he may at least still be a name for fans to keep tabs on.
