According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic still hope to convince Scott Brown to stay – but he has a two-year deal on the table from Aberdeen.

Brown, 35, is out of contract this summer and could bring an end to his 14-year association with Celtic.

Aberdeen have appointed Stephen Glass as their new boss, and he wants to make Brown his assistant having played together at Hibernian.

The Dons are prepared to give Brown a two-year deal, in which he will still play alongside his coaching duties at Pittodrie.

That seems appealing to Brown, who only has a one-year offer from Celtic – but the Bhoys still hope he will change his mind.

Brown currently looks to be preferring a move to Aberdeen over extending his Celtic stay, which really will spark a new era at Parkhead.

Chief executive Peter Lawwell is going, manager Neil Lennon has gone, and now captain Brown is heading for the exit too as things stand.

Losing him to a Scottish rival may be frustrating, but with Brown keen to get his coaching career started, Celtic’s hopes appear to be dwindling.
