Liverpool and Celtic have shared a few links over recent years, and another one might soon be added to the list.
Brendan Rodgers has managed Celtic twice, and that connection could be strengthened again with news emerging from the club this week.
Rodgers resigned from his post, leading to Martin O’Neill stepping in as interim boss for the time being.
But at 73, O’Neill is only expected to hold the role temporarily, so Celtic will need to start thinking about who takes over long-term.
Even though Rodgers stepped down just a couple of days ago, there are already whispers about who might be next in line for the job.
Robbie Keane reportedly included on Celtic’s managerial shortlist
Robbie Keane enjoyed a successful playing career, including a brief spell at Liverpool under Rafa Benitez.
Most of his playing days were spent at Tottenham, where he was one of the top strikers of his era. But his coaching journey hasn’t matched those heights yet.

Keane has held three managerial roles so far. He’s currently in charge at Ferencvaros, having previously managed Maccabi Tel-Aviv and ATK.
Despite only taking over the Hungarian club in 2025, he’s already being linked with a return to Celtic.
According to Jacobs: “Robbie Keane has also made the shortlist to replace Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.”
“The former Celtic loanee Keane is currently in charge of Hungarian side Ferencvaros.”
Liverpool could soon be searching for a new manager of their own
Managerial changes are a common feature in any season, but the 2025-26 campaign has seen more movement than usual.
Nottingham Forest have already gone through three different managers, and Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a return to Celtic after his short spell at the City Ground didn’t work out.

There haven’t been any serious rumours about Arne Slot’s future just yet, and given how things went last season, there shouldn’t be. But Liverpool’s current form hasn’t helped quieten any doubts around him.
If results don’t pick up soon, questions about his position could start to grow louder. Some of his signings, like Florian Wirtz, are still settling in, but with the season well underway, patience may start to wear thin if performances don’t improve soon.
