Rejected by Celtic, Andy Robertson is gearing up to face Lionel Messi.

It’s no secret that Celtic clearly made a massive mistake in releasing Andy Robertson.
The Liverpool left-back was a youth player at Lennoxtown, but the Scot was cut loose by Chris McCart at the age of 15.
Robertson’s profile has since skyrocketed and the 25-year-old was named in the Premier League’s Team of the Season recently.
It’s already quite an embarrassing mishap by Celtic, but that humiliation could be taken to the next level this week.
Robertson is gearing up for a battle directly against Lionel Messi ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Barcelona on Wednesday for the first leg of a Champions League semi-final.
Joining the Premier League giants and become one of Europe’s finest left-backs is one thing, but if Robertson can successfully contain the Argentine maestro at Camp Nou then the Hoops’ oversight is going to look a hell of a lot worse.
Messi is arguably the finest and most gifted footballer who has ever lived, and if a player who was deemed not good enough for Celtic can silence such a man then, well, you wouldn’t want to be McCart on Thursday.
As noted, the Bhoys will forever kick themselves over releasing Robertson – whose value could be as high as €90 million [£77 million] according to CIES – but if he proves himself a match for Messi this week then it might be the ultimate gaffe.
