Celtic left back Greg Taylor impressed against Rangers on Sunday, even earning praise from former Bhoys loan flop Shane Duffy.
The Bhoys headed to Ibrox knowing that a win would leave them with one hand on the Scottish Premiership title.
Aaron Ramsey’s early goal gave Rangers real hope of a result, but that was as good as it got for the hosts.
Tom Rogic quickly brought Celtic level and Cameron Carter-Vickers popped up with the winner before half time, handing Celtic a 2-1 victory.
Now six points clear at the top of the table, it looks like Celtic are coasting towards the title in the final weeks of the season.
There were a number of quality performances for Celtic on the day, with Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt both shining at the back.
It’s also worth praising the performance of left back Taylor, who did a great job shackling Joe Aribo for large parts of the game.
Fashion Sakala’s pace threatened to cause some problems, but Taylor stood strong to help Celtic see out the game.
Taylor – a former Rangers youngster himself – hasn’t always been the most popular Celtic player since arriving from Kilmarnock in 2019.
Following on from Kieran Tierney is never easy and Taylor isn’t quite at that level, but he proved his worth against Rangers.
Taylor has been earning praise from all corners, and former Celtic defender Duffy – who played with Taylor last season – has offered his praise.
Duffy’s time at Celtic didn’t go well but he was a boyhood Hoops fans and remains a big supporter now.
Taking to Instagram, Duffy simply stated ‘actually love you’ as he echoed the thoughts of many Celtic fans after a derby day victory.
Hopefully Taylor can kick on and continue this kind of form for a long time yet, proving he can be Celtic’s long-term left back.
