Former Ibrox striker Kris Boyd has written in The Scottish Sun that Steven Gerrard’s Rangers should not get complacent about Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

Boyd, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has said that although Rangers are well placed to win the Scottish Premiership title next season, the Gers should not underestimate what Celtic can do.

Celtic have a new manager in charge, Ange Postecoglou.

Rangers won the Scottish Premiership title last season, ending their bitter Old Firm rivals’ hopes of winning the championship for the 10th year in a row.

What Kris Boyd says

Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Right now, most would say that Rangers are an absolute certainty for the league.

“They are huge favourites, but a lot can change in a short space of time. It’s easy to look at the two squads right now and say that Rangers are in a far stronger position.

“But you don’t know what big-money offers are going to come in for your key players. Across the city, Celtic could get their house in order and build some confidence.”

Fascinating title race ahead

Rangers do have the better squad at the moment, but, as Boyd says, things can quickly change.

Postecoglou will know fully well the job at hand for him, and he will be prepared.

What is important for Rangers is not to get complacent.

Rangers have to stay humble and have to start the season strongly.

The Gers were unbeaten in the league last season, and it is going to be tough to repeat that in 2021-22.

As for Celtic, it is hard to the Hoops fare as badly as they did last season.

The only way for the Bhoys is up.
