Celtic, Kilmarnock and Glasgow Rangers are currently in the top three but the Dons ace wants to make sure Parkhead, Rugby Park or Ibrox will not be where the title goes.

Sam Cosgrove of Aberdeen makes it 2-0 during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Hearts at Pittodrie Stadium on December 22, 2018 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The 2018-19 race for the Scottish Premiership title has to be one of the most exciting in years, with four teams separated by just three points after 22 games.

Celtic currently top the table on 45 points and have a game in hand, but Brendan Rodgers’ previously indomitable side has already lost four times in the league this season.

Kilmarnock are second, just one point behind, while Steven Gerrard’s resurgent Rangers are in third on 42, the same points tally as fourth-placed Aberdeen.

Much of the talk has been around the Old Firm teams and Kilmarnock as the dark horses, but Derek McInnes’ charges have quietly been going about their business and are very much still in contention.

The Dons have won six of their last eight league games, their last one a resounding 3-0 win over Hamilton Academical, and Sam Cosgrove has been integral, scoring nine goals in that run.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the Aberdeen striker issued a warning to his side’s title rivals, saying they haven’t even hit top gear yet – and given they could go second should they beat Kilmarnock on Saturday, the other three should take heed of these comments.

“There’s still plenty of improvement to be seen all over the pitch,” said Cosgrove. “It’s testament to the team really, we can go to places like Hamilton and get the three points so confidently, without being 10 out of 10.

“[December] was a glimpse of what is to come. If we can keep it going, it could be an exciting time for us… we quietly went about our business before Christmas and we’ve kept it going in the league with the win the other night. Let’s keep it going.”
