Celtic have reportedly put an offer on the table for Mahamadou Diawara with Brendan Rodgers’ side keen on the Lyon player.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title at a canter last season with the Bhoys finishing comfortably ahead of rivals Rangers in the table and winning another league crown.

There could be key changes at Celtic Park this summer with HITC reporting that Brighton are in talks with Celtic for midfielder Matt O’Riley, who had an outstanding goalscoring campaign for the Scottish giants.

A midfield replacement could well be sought after this summer and Celtic previously held an interest in Kalvin Phillips but another name has been mentioned.

Celtic ‘make offer’ for Lyon’s Mahamadou Diawara

According to a post on X from French journalist Nabil Djellit, Celtic are one side who have ‘put an offer on the table’ for the Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diawara.

There’s no mention of the fee offered by Celtic or whether the Ligue 1 side have accepted this bid.

As well as the Scottish champions, Djellit adds RC Lens and FC Nantes are interested in the 19-year-old. Rodgers’s side currently seems to be ahead of the Ligue 1 sides considering they have tabled a bid.

Foot Mercato had claimed that an unknown side, with Champions League football, had made an offer for Diawara and it would be logical to assume that the offer was made by Rodgers’ Celtic.

Diawara graduated from Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before he left them for Lyon last summer. If the teenager decides a move to the Scottish champions is best for his career, it is likely he would be heavily involved for the club.

Celtic in for busy end to the window

As mentioned, Brighton are keen on signing O’Riley but as of yet no deal has been done to take the goalscoring Dane to the AMEX Stadium.

HITC has been told that O’Riley has made it clear to Celtic that he wants the chance to leave this month. Atalanta made two offers but the Scottish side turned down the proposals.

It appears Brighton are in the driving seat for the Dane and this could suggest why Celtic have reportedly ‘put an offer on the table’ for Diawara.
