Celtic’s plans for quick January transfer signings have been confirmed by Ange Postecoglou – but just when they will be in remains to be seen.

Celtic targeting three quick signings

Football Scotland claim that Celtic are looking to get three Japanese signings over the line in the coming weeks.

Kawasaki Frontale defender Reo Hatate is expected to join Celtic soon, and two compatriots are likely to sign too.

Gamba Osaka midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi and Yokohama F. Marinos attacker Daizen Maeda are also expected to join Celtic.

It’s stated that Celtic hope to have all three players signed up by January 2nd.

They wouldn’t be able to face Rangers, but having them on board into the winter break would be ideal.

Postecoglou comments on Celtic signings

There are still a couple of weeks to go until the January window but Celtic are clearly making moves.

The Australian has been speaking ahead of tonight’s game against Ross County and offered a transfer update.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Postecoglou suggested that signings done and dusted by January 2nd is ‘more idealistic than realistic’.

Still, Postecoglou is going to try and get the deals done, claiming Celtic need signings quicker than they did over the summer.

Postecoglou claims Celtic don’t have signings agreed just yet, but work is ongoing with the Japanese trio seemingly Glasgow-bound.

“It’s probably more idealistic than realistic. But if you shoot for the stars, they say you’ll land on the moon,” said Postecoglou. “So I’m pushing to get them in as early as possible in the window. To get them before January 2 might be a bit of a stretch, but I do want them as soon as I can because that period before we restart could be crucial in integrating any new players we have.”

“Rather than what happened in the summer window where the league has started while we were still signing players. I don’t want to be in that situation. The situation with our transfers is that it is constant and we are working through them.

“Nothing is done yet. As I’ve always said, we live in unusual times when things aren’t straightforward. There are delays in areas. We haven’t concluded any deals yet, but we are working really hard to make sure we have deals in place early in the window so the ones we want to join us can do so early in the piece. We are working through things. Nothing has been confirmed or done. If I said a deal had been done, I could be proved a liar in a day’s time because something happened,” he added.
