Ex-Celtic star Roberts has left Man City to join Spanish outfit Girona on loan.

Patrick Roberts has taken on an altogether new challenge by joining Spanish side Girona on a season-long loan from Manchester City this summer – and Celtic players have reacted to his Instagram post.
The 21-year-old spent more than two years at Celtic, first joining the club on an 18-month loan in January 2016 before rejoining Brendan Rodgers’ side in the summer of 2017 for the entirety of last term.
He clocked up 78 appearances in all competitions, helping the club win three Scottish Premiership titles and to do the double over the past two seasons. He scored 18 goals, and created another 26 from out wide.
Now, Roberts has decided to ignore reported interest in his services from Celtic, and try something new by moving to Spain and Girona. He posted on Instagram, saying: “Exciting new challenge, looking forward to the season ahead.”
A handful of Celtic players reacted to the post, including best mate Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair, Cristian Gamboa, Mikael Lustig and Dorus de Vries. Former Hoops man Erik Sviatchenko also commented.

Roberts is yet to make a senior appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side, and was even linked with a move to Leicester City in a deal that has seen City sign Riyad Mahrez.
However, Roberts remains at City with two years remaining on his contract, after joining the club way back in the summer of 2015 from newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham.
