Darren Moore was probably hoping Osaze Urhoghide would be lining up for Sheffield Wednesday in next week’s pre-season clash with Celtic.
Instead, the 20-year-old defender could be making his first appearance in those iconic green-and-white hoops against the club that handed him his senior debut in January 2020.
Then again, Sheffield Wednesday can have no complaints really as they face up to the prospect of losing two of their most exciting talents to the same club in the space of just five months.
After Liam Shaw agreed a move to the Glasgow giants in February, The Star believes Netherlands-born Urhoghide is about to follow in his footsteps.
The versatile defender has been linked with Premier League trio Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Watford but it’s believed Celtic, now under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou, have convinced Urhoghide that Parkhead is the place to be.
Can Osaze Urhoghide become a Celtic star?
It’s worth mentioning at this point that Postecoglou is famed Down Under for player development and a tendency to put his faith in youth.
During his impressive spell in charge of the Australian national team, the 55-year-old phased out a core group of influential veterans in favour of technically gifted up-and-comers, including now Celtic-linked playmaker Aaron Mooy.

And Urhoghide certainly falls into the latter category.
A likeable character off the pitch but a tenacious, tough-tackling one on it, Urhoghide rejected a new contract at Sheffield Wednesday following their relegation from the Championship, much to the disappointment of those who hoped he would stay to help drag the Owls out of a mess of their own making.
Here’s what some Wednesday fans had to tell their Celtic counterparts about Urhoghide on Twitter:
