Celtic have eyed Ola Solbakken but the Bodo/Glimt attacker is flying in to Rome today in order to sign for Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Roma sit seventh in Serie A, already 14 points behind league leaders Napoli.

City rivals Lazio are three points ahead of Roma and the pressure is on Jose Mourinho to get the team moving forward.

Mourinho will want January signings and it looks like Roma are on the verge of securing a bargain addition.

Celtic have eyed Ola Solbakken

Sport Mediaset report that Bodo/Glimt forward Ola Solbakken is landing in Rome today to sign for Roma.

Solbakken’s contract with Bodo/Glimt finishes at the end of December and Roma will now sign him on a free transfer in January.

Roma will allegedly give Solbakken a deal until the summer of 2027 as they secure a bargain.

Solbakken, 24, has mostly played as a winger for Bodo/Glimt, cutting in from the right flank to cause chaos on his left foot.

20 goals and 24 assists in 91 outings for the Norwegian side is a strong record and his record against Roma is impressive.

Solbakken has bagged three goals in three games against Roma, including two in the 6-1 demolition of Roma in October 2021.

This deal takes Solbakken off the market and kills off any lingering Celtic rumours after some mixed claims earlier this year.

The Scottish Daily Mail (27/04, back page) reported that Celtic were eyeing Solbakken in case they couldn’t sign loanee Jota permanently.

Jota did sign on with the Bhoys but there were claims from We Are Celts that Solbakken was offered to Celtic and they said no.

Whether Solbakken really was a Celtic target or not won’t matter soon enough as he will pen an exciting deal with Roma and look to excel in Italy.
