Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have been linked with Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

According to The Express, Celtic are “keen” on signing Scott McTominay from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Newcastle United are also interested in McTominay.

Manchester United reportedly value the 26-year-old Scotland international midfielder at £45 million.

The Times reported last week that West Ham United have made a verbal offer for the £60,000-a-week (Spotrac) star.

Celtic unlikely to be able to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United

In our opinion, Celtic are unlikely to be able to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

We do not think that the Scottish Premiership champions will be able to cough up £45 million in transfer fees for McTominay.

The player himself may not be keen on a move to the Scottish Premiership.

After all, McTominay is playing for arguably the biggest club in England.

Manchester United will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and will also aim to win the Premier League title.

The Scottish Premiership is nowhere near the level of the Premier League.

With clubs such as Newcastle United and West Ham United interested in McTominay, it is unlikely that the Scotland international will have Celtic at the top of his to-go club, if indeed he left Old Trafford this summer,

McTominay has made 144 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The midfielder has scored 12 goals and given three assists in those games.

The 26-year-old made 10 starts and 14 substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils last season.

McTominay scored one goal in those games.

The Manchester United star also made one start and six substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League for Erik ten Hag’s side last season.

The midfielder scored one goal in those games.
