Celtic are interested in raiding Real Madrid with goalkeeper Andriy Lunin now wanted ahead of the January transfer window.

Real Madrid stopper Andriy Lunin is one of a number of goalkeepers currently being eyed up by Celtic.

That is according to a report from the Daily Record, who claim that Celtic are now looking to bring Lunin to Glasgow.

We can expect to see Celtic linked with a number of goalkeepers in the coming months with Joe Hart out of contract next summer.

Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist aren’t really considered as first-choice stoppers moving forward, so a new signing is expected in 2024.

Celtic want Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin

Reports from the Daily Record now suggest that Celtic are keen on landing Real Madrid stopper Andriy Lunin.

It’s claimed that Celtic were actually interested in Lunin over the summer but Real wouldn’t let him leave.

The 24-year-old has been backup to Thibaut Courtois in recent times but an injury to the Belgian has highlighted Lunin’s role at Real.

Rather than play the Ukrainian regularly, Real decided to go and sign Kepa Arrizabalaga, leaving Lunin frustrated.

Once a huge talent at Dnipro and Zorya Luhansk, Lunin has been praised as a ‘top’ goalkeeper by Carlo Ancelotti but he just isn’t playing enough.

Celtic could dangle the prospect of Lunin becoming first-choice at Parkhead for years to come with his contract running out next summer.

Caoimhin Kelleher option fading away for Celtic

Lunin being linked to Celtic comes after rumours linking Liverpool stopper Caoimhin Kelleher with a move to Glasgow.

Transfer insider Dean Jones told Give Me Sport in September that Celtic want to make a deal for Kelleher happen in 2024.

The Transfer Room reported in March that Celtic fancied signing Kelleher but nothing materialised over the summer.

It’s hard to see a deal with Celtic happening though given that The Daily Mail reported over the summer that Liverpool wanted around £15million for Kelleher.

That would be a huge outlay for Celtic and pivoting to Lunin – whose contract is running down – makes more sense for the Bhoys.
