Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has explained to The Daily Record why he had to leave Ibrox club Rangers.

As reported by The Daily Record, Morgan was released by Rangers when he was just 16 years of age.

The winger subsequently joined St Mirren and has since established himself as one of the best young players in Scotland.

Earlier today, Celtic completed the signing of the 21-year-old winger from St. Mirren and have loaned him back to the Scottish Championship club for the rest of the season.

Morgan has explained how his departure from Rangers in 2013 came about, and told The Daily Record: “For the last couple of years I was there, I wasn’t anywhere near even my own age group.

“So it was coming to be honest and the last two years really weren’t enjoyable. The head of youth at the time didn’t take a fancy to me.

“But that’s all behind me now and I am happy to be joining a club that plays Champions League every year and is the dominant club in Scotland.”

Morgan is a brilliant young winger, and Celtic have signed a superb footballer in the Scotland Under-21 international.

It is also smart of the Glasgow giants to send the youngster back on loan to St. Mirren when he can continue his development.

Celtic look set to win the Scottish Premiership title this season and have also dropped to the Europa League.

As for St. Mirren, they are aiming to win automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship to the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season.
