New Celtic signing Odsonne Edouard took advice from several big players – including the world’s most decorated – ahead of his move to Parkhead.

Edouard became the Bhoys’ fifth and final signing of the summer transfer window late on Thursday night, after agreeing a season-long loan move from Paris Saint-Germain.

And according to The Scottish Sun, former PSG star Maxwell was among those consulted by the 19-year-old beforehand.

Maxwell, who left the Ligue 1 giants at the end of last season, has won 37 trophies throughout his career – more than any player past or present.

But even for him, it would appear the memories of playing at Celtic’s home ground are hard to erase.

“All the big players who have played here, young or old, always say that playing at Celtic Park is something special,” Edouard is quoted as telling The Scottish Sun.

“The atmosphere is renowned.”

The France Under-19 forward, who spent last season on loan to Toulouse, also told of how Celtic’s manager played an influential role in his move, adding: “I have known of Brendan (Rodgers) for a while through his positions in the Premier League.

“As soon as I discovered he was interested in me and I spoke to him, I had no hesitation in signing.

“He was influential.”

Meanwhile, Edouard confirmed that, much like Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts last season, he is eligible to face his parent club in the Champions League group stage.
