Celtic new boy Jota shares what he’s ‘always thought’ about Bhoys fans

Celtic brought in attacker Jota on loan from Benfica on deadline day – and he already has a pretty high opinion of Bhoys fans.

Ange Postecoglou wanted more attacking threats brought in before the summer deadline, and struck to make two signings in the final third.

Striker Giorgos Giakoumakis came in from VVV-Venlo, and winger Jota has arrived for the season having stalled at Benfica.

Jota spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid in Spain, but failed to really impress with just two goals in 18 appearances.

With no shot at first-team football with Benfica, Jota has gone out on loan again, this time joining Celtic with a view to a permanent move.

The international break is coming to an end, meaning Jota will now be in line to feature for Celtic against Ross County this weekend.

Jota has been speaking to the Glasgow Times about his move, and highlighted that he has long thought highly of Celtic supporters.

The Portuguese talent suggested that he has seen a lot of Celtic matches in recent years and ‘always thought’ there was something special about Celtic Park.

Jota added that he wanted to feel the atmosphere at Celtic all that time, and now has the chance to do it as a Bhoy, believing this is ‘the best thing’ for him right now.

“Paradise isn’t it?” said Jota. “Welcome to Paradise! I’m really looking forward to playing here. I have seen a lot of Celtic matches in the last few years against big European clubs. It was always a very good atmosphere and now I can’t wait to feel the same and to help everyone putting a smile on the Celtic fans’ faces.”

“When I was younger I watched Benfica play Celtic in Lisbon. I was very young though. Since then I have seen PSG, Barcelona and these type of teams play at Celtic Park. I always thought there was something special about that place. Like a different atmosphere. “

“I might not be able to predict the future but watching those games I wanted to feel that atmosphere. I didn’t know if I would ever play here so now I am very happy it happens. It’s the best thing that could happen at this stage of my career,” he added.
