Stoke City’s Bojan Krkic celebrates scoring their first goal
Scottish champions Celtic may take great encouragement from claims Stoke City will let Bojan Krkic leave the club permanently in the summer.
The Telegraph report Bojan will be told he can leave the club as part of a clearout, having been sent out on loan to Mainz in January.
Prior to Bojan clinching his temporary move to the Bundesliga, he was strongly linked with a switch to Celtic, with the Stoke Sentinel reporting that they were one of the clubs who attempted to land him.
The 26-year-old has a big reputation, once touted as Lionel Messi’s heir at Barcelona, he has previously played for Roma, AC Milan and Ajax.
He has rebuilt his career at Stoke having previously been labelled a bust, and bounced back from a serious injury suffered for the Premier League club.
Mainz will consider themselves in a strong position to land him permanently, but from a financial perspective Celtic could be in a stronger position.
They will also be able to offer Champions League football next season as well as a strong chance of landing a medal or two, and the chance to once again put himself on the map.
