Liverpool could reportedly consider loaning Dominic Solanke out at the last moment, and that should prompt Celtic to monitor the situation.

At the start of the week, many Celtic fans would have been hoping that the final days of the transfer window would be incredibly busy with a number of players potentially arriving at Parkhead before the deadline.

That could still prove to be the case, but it appears that the headline-grabbing story involving Celtic in the final hours could involve a sale, with The Scottish Sun suggesting that Moussa Dembele could well be on his way out of the club.

It would be a huge blow for Brendan Rodgers to lose Dembele despite the attacking depth that the Hoops would still boast, and it would surely become imperative that Celtic look to make a signing to make up for the Frenchman’s departure – if he does leave.

So perhaps the Bhoys should be put on alert by a report from the Liverpool Echo and consider moving for a player that has spent much of the summer being linked with their Scottish Premiership rivals.

Like Dembele, Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke is an uncertain situation right now. The Liverpool Echo reports that Jurgen Klopp does not plan to loan the 20-year-old out as things stand, but that stance could change if Divock Origi ends up staying put.

The Echo reports that Rangers have wanted Solanke during this window with Reds legend Steven Gerrard at the helm at Ibrox. But with Kyle Lafferty recently arriving, it seems highly unlikely that the Gers will have any reason to make a last-ditch attempt to sign Solanke when they have more pressing concerns.

And Celtic should look to capitalise from Rangers possibly not needing to target Solanke, if Dembele goes. The Hoops have the kind of attacking quality without Dembele that can perhaps allow them to take something of a gamble in the market.

With Solanke yet to establish himself at Anfield, it would be something of a risk to target him if Dembele leaves. But it could prove to be an inspired move that would be particularly sweet for the Hoops if it did pay off due to the links with their rivals throughout the summer.
