John McGinn would seriously interest Celtic if he has another stormer against them on Sunday.
Very few opposition players in Scotland win the Man of the Match award against Brendan Rodgers’s all-conquering Celtic side.
But John McGinn was the exception back in September when his two goals helped Hibernian to a 2-2 draw at Parkhead.
Inevitably there was speculation about a move to Celtic Park for the 23-year-old after that, but surely another dazzling performance against the Hoops at Easter Road on Sunday would persuade Rodgers that he’s the real deal.
Scott Brown will be 33 by the time next season kicks off and although the Scotland midfielder remains a big asset, he can only go on for so long and the Northern Irish manager should probably start thinking about the long term.
Speaking to The Record in October, Alan Stubbs reckons that McGinn is the perfect long-term replacement for Brown and Rodgers should make note, given that Stubbs signed the Hibs star in 2015
Plus, McGinn, who has three goals in total this season, is said to be an avid fan of the Parkhead club, so he would not take much convincing.
It would, however, take a lot to persuade Neil Lennon to part with him in January, especially with the Edinburgh side doing so well on their return to the Premiership, but money talks and Celtic have enough of it to force Lennon’s hand.
