Celtic must challenge Scottish Premiership rivals Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers for Martin Skrtel.

It looks like Rangers aren’t giving up on Martin Skrtel just yet – but Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers should join the race.
According to Turkish outlet CNN, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, who played alongside Skrtel, is still keen on signing the Slovakia centre-half, who was heavily linked with a move to Ibrox during the summer transfer window.
But if the big man is available, Celtic simply need to rival the Gers for his signature.
The Hoops might be well stocked in regards to centre-back options for now, but what about next summer, or even January? Will they be as strong? Potentially not.
Filip Benkovic has been terrific for Rodgers, but Leicester City have the option to recall him from his season-long loan in January, and it would take a brave man to say definitively that Dedryck Boyata – out of contract next summer – won’t leave in the winter.
Rangers most certainly need another centre-back, amid Joe Worrall struggling on loan, and Skrtel reuniting with Gerrard would certainly excite the Ibrox faithful.
Problem is, the 33-year-old is earning around £43,000 per week in Turkey [Yahoo Sport] and Celtic, being the richer of both Old Firm clubs, are simply more likely to meet his financial demands than Rangers.
He might be there for the taking if Rodgers wants him. Question is, does he?
