Celtic’s move to sign David Turnbull hit the rocks at the weekend.
Celtic issued a strongly worded statement on Twitter criticising Turnbull and more specifically his agent, for not accepting the club’s offer.
The move could still go through. It’s just taken on an extra element of risk for Turnbull.
Moving to Celtic was already risky for Turnbull.
He need only look at how Lewis Morgan struggled to make the step up to Celtic after his promising performances at St Mirren.
There is no guarantee Turnbull will not suffer the same fate.
Now if the move goes through, he will arrived having already managed to tick off half the fanbase.
He will have to work even harder to be a success, and at this point it might be simpler for the midfielder to seek a deal elsewhere.
