Celtic are interested in Mohammed Abu Fani as they look to bring yet another Israeli international to Parkhead this summer.

The Bhoys may have won the Scottish Premiership but they can’t rest on their laurels.

Rangers will be desperate to wrestle the title back from Celtic and the Bhoys need to start showing more in Europe too.

That means new signings will be wanted this summer and a new name can be add to an ever-growing list of potential targets.

Celtic are interested in Mohammed Abu Fani

Celtic continue to be linked with names on a daily basis and today it’s the turn of Mohammed Abu Fani.

Sport5 in Abu Fani’s native Israel report that Celtic are one of the clubs interested in landing the midfielder this summer.

It’s claimed that Abu Fani’s representatives are marketing him around Europe in the hope of a deal.

The report claims that Royal Antwerp have been considering a move but Celtic, Eintracht Frankfurt and Standard Liege are the most interested.

All those clubs will allegedly watch Abu Fani in Nations League action for Israel against Iceland and Albania before making a move.

Celtic have a real history of signing players with ties to Israeli football.

Israeli internationals Hatem Abd Elhamed, Rami Gershon, Beram Kayal, Nir Bitton and Liel Abada have all joined Celtic in recent times.

Efe Ambrose and Ismaila Soro both joined from Israeli clubs thanks to agent Dudu Dahan, the Israeli representative who also brought Stefan Scepovic and Amido Balde to Celtic.

Abu Fani could follow in their footsteps but just who is he?

Abu Fani, 24, is a diminutive midfielder at just 5ft 4in tall and has played in holding, box-to-box and attacking midfield role for Maccabi Haifa.

That size means Abu Fani has a low centre of gravity and is able to jink past players in tight spaces in midfield.

With six goals and six assists in 44 games this past season, Abu Fani made a big impact for Maccabi Haifa.

Abu Fani has also played with Liel Abada on the international stage and may fancy joining forces at Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou is keen on another midfielder this summer given that Bitton and Tom Rogic have both gone and these reports suggest that Abu Fani is wanted.
