According to Buli News, reported Celtic target Taiwo Awoniyi has agreed to join Bundesliga side Union Berlin on loan from Premier League champions Liverpool.
The young Liverpool striker spent last season on loan at Mainz.
Awoniyi has been on the books with the Merseyside club since 2015 and a decision over his long-term future will surely be decided over the next 12 months.
A report by the Daily Star in July claimed Celtic were keen on him.
The Scottish Premiership champions may have been looking for an alternative to Odsonne Edouard, with Awoniyi boasting a similar stature and physical strengths.
The Daily Star added that Liverpool would be willing to sell him for a £9 million fee.
But the latest reports suggest the Bhoys have missed out on his signature.
After Bild claimed Awoniyi rejected a move to PAOK this past week, Buli News now say a deal has been wrapped up with bourgeoning Bundesliga side Union Berlin.
Urs Fischer’s side are in their second Bundesliga campaign after establishing themselves last term, and the club from the German capital will hope to improve further.
Awoniyi, meanwhile, is under contract with Liverpool until 2023.
At 23, he may be approaching a make-or-break season in terms of his future with the Reds and he will be looking to build on his experience with Mainz last term.
The Nigeria U23 international scored just once in 12 games for Mainz but his form drew praise from manager Achim Beierlorzer who called him sensational in Kicker.
