Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Celtic utility man Nir Bitton is set to undergo surgery on his injured knee after posting a picture dressed in a hospital gown on his Instagram story on Monday morning.
The Daily Record claim that 26-year-old Bitton has been ruled out for the rest of the 2017-18 campaign with the injury, last featuring as a 10-minute substitute in the 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock.
The Israel international is just another name on a long list of absentees currently in the Celtic treatment room, which includes defenders Dedryck Boyata and Marvin Compper as well as midfielder Stuart Armstrong.
Bitton looked calm and collected in a picture on his Instagram story ahead of going under the knife, after travelling to Antwerp in Belgium to correct the problem.
Celtic’s number five has been an important member of Brendan Rodgers’ side this season after the former Liverpool and Swansea City boss converted him into a centre-back, away from his natural position of central midfield.
He has made 23 appearances in all competitions but will now be unavailable until the 2018-19 season, compounding Rodgers’ woes with Craig Gordon, Paddy Roberts, Leigh Griffiths and Jonny Hayes also sidelined.
