Mackay-Steven already fitting in
Celtic forward Gary Mackay-Steven is wasting no time settling in at Parkhead and his comments after their 4-0 win over Aberdeen this weekend prove this.
Mackay-Steven only joined the Bhoys last month, but he has already developed the mentality needed to be a success at a club as demanding at Celtic.
“Obviously the club is used to winning and there is a definite winning mentality in the dressing room – second best is no use,” he said to the club’s official site. “It’s all about winning and at half-time we knew if we started playing our football that our quality would show.”
Deila admits he was worried
Celtic may have cruised to a 4-0 against Aberdeen eventually, but Ronny Deila admits that the visitors to Parkhead on Saturday had him running scared.
Aberdeen were the better team for the early part of the contest and Deila says that he was concerned that Celtic’s schedule had taken too much out of the team at first.
“Of course, I was worried as I watched the way we started,” he said to the Glasgow Evening Times. “It was because we didn’t get our legs going as quickly as we normally do.”
McInnes admits Aberdeen are not ready to challenge Celtic
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says that his side are probably not ready to compete with Celtic for the league title.
The Dons are the Bhoys nearest challengers for the Scottish Premiership title, but McInnes conceded that their hopes of lifting the trophy are probably over already.
“There is a lot to like about my team,” he said to the Glasgow Evening Times. “There is an acceptance that maybe we are not quite ready to go and take them on.”
