Benali could join by Friday
Celtic could make their first signing of the January transfer window in the next few days, according to a report in the Scottish Evening Times.
The Scottish champions have taken a keen interest in Ahmad Benali and they may be able to land him by the end of the week, as he could be a free transfer.
Benali’s current club, Brescia, are in financial difficulty and if they fail to pay their players this week then their entire squad will be free to seek new employers.
Deila wants sales
Celtic are set to allow a number of their players to leave over the coming weeks, with Ronny Deila looking to trim his squad.
The Bhoys have not met expectations during the campaign to date and Deila clearly feels that some members of his team are not good enough to represent a club of such stature.
“I want a smaller squad,” he admitted to the Daily Record. “We have too many players and it’s much better to have 20-22 players of a good level and then fill it with youngsters, instead of having 28 or 29 players.”
Swap deal prepared
Cardiff City are preparing to offer Celtic a swap deal for Adam Matthews, the Scottish Evening Times reports.
The Championship side are keen on signing Matthews, who came through their youth academy as a youngster, and could offer the Scottish champions Kim Bo-Kyung in return.
