Celtic and Rangers will be battling hard during the summer transfer window as they aim to make their mark ahead of the new Scottish Premiership campaign.
Heading into the summer transfer window, it is looking more likely that Celtic might be the ones that could lose some key players rather than their rivals Rangers.
That in itself wouldn’t be a surprise because Celtic were the outstanding team last season, and have been for a number of years now, whilst Rangers are trying to overtake their neighbours ahead of the new campaign.
But as reported by Football Scotland, Celtic have turned down a second offer for their highly-rated fullback Kieran Tierney, with interest from English Premier League side Arsenal.
Added with that, the Scottish Sun have claimed that newly-promoted side Sheffield United are keen on £2 million Celtic man Scott Sinclair as they prepare for the big time.
Neil Lennon has to ensure he doesn’t lose the duo this summer because if he does then they will be very tough to replace, especially fan favourite Tierney.
And even though, as has been the case for some years now, Celtic would go into the Premiership season as title favourites, if they were to lose some of their players then it might just hand Rangers a little advantage.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to many if the up and coming season provides the most competitive title race in many years because Steven Gerrard’s side are trying their utmost best to stop nine-in-a-row.
The Bhoys have still proved to be the dominant force, but they surely should be aware that Rangers are creeping up on them?
Tierney is one of the best players in the Premiership and losing a player of his calibre would be disastrous for Neil Lennon, even if he receives a hefty fee for him.
Whilst it might provide them with the financial muscle to go out and sign new players, there’s more money than talent out there and Celtic would need time to find replacements for both Tierney and Sinclair if they were to lose them both this summer.
