Celtic loanee says it is inevitable his Aberdeen manager has been linked to Rangers.

Celtic loanee Ryan Christie has commented on the ongoing speculation linking Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes to Rangers.

McInnes is the current 1/6 favourite for the vacant Rangers post after Pedro Caixinha was fired late last month.

Christie is out on loan at Aberdeen from Celtic and is a big fan of McInnes, under who he has been a first team regular and earned a Scotland call up.

Speaking to SkySports, Christie discussed the McInnes to Rangers speculation, and hopes he does not take up the offer.

He said: “I’ve loved playing under him for nearly a full year now, I think it’s been absolutely brilliant.

“The gaffer’s done incredibly at Aberdeen over a number of years now, so it’s only natural when jobs appear that there going to be speculation with his name involved.

“It’s happened before and he’s stayed so hopefully that’s going to be the case again.”

McInnes played for Rangers early in his career and has a connection at Ibrox and is a frequent name mentioned whenever the Ibrox job becomes available.

His Aberdeen side currently sit three points above Rangers in the Scottish Premier League table, but they have repeatedly fallen short in their challenge to Celtic, and the Gers hope to tempt him into taking up a new challenge.
