Celtic loanee Oliver Burke makes admission after Darren Moore sacking

Celtic signed Oliver Burke on loan from West Bromwich Albion during the January transfer window.

Oliver Burke has told the Evening Times that Darren Moore’s sacking at West Brom almost changes everything regarding his future beyond the end of his loan spell with Celtic.

Burke signed for the Hoops during the January transfer window, and has made a bright start to his Parkhead career with four goals in the Scottish Premiership for the league leaders.

The Evening Times suggests that Celtic are unlikely to be able to keep Burke beyond his loan if he is available on a permanent basis, with the Baggies paying £15 million for the winger when they signed him from RB Leipzig.

But it would be no surprise if the Hoops did look at whether a summer move could be possible. However, Burke admitted that he now has little idea regarding what the plans for him will be with the Baggies looking for their next manager after letting Moore go last week.

“There has been nothing right now. As it stands I am here until the end of the season and from there I will need to see what happens. It is out of my hands at the minute because I am a West Brom player so we have to see what happens in the summer,” he told the Evening Times.

“I am not too sure at the minute how it really stands. The change of manager now and stuff like that so it almost changes everything again with a new manager coming in….seems to happen a lot with me. Wherever I go there seems to be a new manager coming in which is just my luck. It would be nice to find a club where the manager actually stays.”

Despite Burke’s lack of game-time under Moore, his departure could perhaps be a positive for Celtic. Moore said in January – in comments reported by The Scottish Sun – that Burke would be returning to the Hawthorns in the summer.

His replacement may come in and decide that he needs funds to oversee significant changes during the next window. And with Burke’s value likely to be high, selling the Scot may be an option that the club consider – and that may leave Celtic with a decision to make regarding whether they look to sign Burke for a second time.
