Celtic travel to Valencia this week looking to overturn a two goal deficit.

It’s a tough task as they were outplayed in the first leg, and elimination is their most likely outcome.

Young defender Jeremy Toljan is not accepting defeat, and the loanee believes Celtic can win, so long as they score first in Spain.

Speaking to the Herald, Toljan said: “If we score first at the Mestalla then we will see what happens. If we can do that then maybe that will affect them mentally and they will start to think about what might happen next because you never know in football. We will go there in a positive frame of mind and try to win.

“They might think that they are already through to the next round but we can maybe get inside their heads with a good start.”

Jeremy Toljan of Celtic arrives at the stadium prior to the Ladbrokes Premiership match between St Johnstone and Celtic at McDiarmid Park on February 3, 2019 in Perth, United Kingdom.

Toljan’s comments are just what Celtic need, and shows the value of a fresh face in the camp.

Celtic are heavy underdogs for the fixture and have a point to prove after their disappointing first leg display.

With the pressure off, there is a good chance they produce an improved performance, and at the least, bow out of Europe on a high note.
