Celtic have reportedly offered their manager’s job to Jose Mourinho.

Reported Celtic target Jose Mourinho has spoken about his future on beIN Sport.

According to Di Marzio, Celtic have reached out to the Portuguese manager and offered him the chance to become Brendan Rodgers’s permanent successor at Parkhead.

Neil Lennon returned to the Hoops on an interim basis in February and led the team to an eighth successive Scottish Premiership title last weekend.

But if the report about Mourinho is true, the Scottish giants have much bigger fish than Lennon in mind.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, a three-time Premier League winner, hinted that he has had offers since being sacked by the Red Devils earlier this year, and confirmed that he’ll be returning to management eventually.

He told beIN Sport: “Any club that shows interest me in me and contacts me, it makes me really, really proud.

“In the end I will choose one [club] but I’m not the kind of person to be discussing this because [on live television] because I’m full of respect for everybody.”

What a coup this would be for Celtic. Yes, it seems quite unlikely at the moment, but the fans can dream.

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers will come back stronger next season and if the Bhoys want to reach 10-in-a-row by 2021, they’ll need a top-class replacement for Rodgers. Is Lennon that man? Time will tell.
