Celtic are on the brink of signing Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo.

Romelu Lukaku #9 of Manchester United gives a thumbs up to his teammate against Manchester City at NRG Stadium on July 20, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Celtic-bound defender Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has recently claimed that he’s a better footballer than his cousin, Romelu Lukaku.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon confirmed on Tuesday that he’s set to sign the £3 million-rated left-back [The Scottish Sun].

The Rapid Vienna star, born in Belgium, is related to the Manchester United hitman and his brother, Lazio’s Jordan Lukaku, by blood.

Both are big names in the world of football, but Bolingoli-Mbombo insists that he’s better – and faster – than both.

He said, as quoted by The Scottish Sun: “They are a bit stronger and more physical than me, but I think technically I am the best in the family.

“There aren’t that many similarities between us, except maybe I am faster than them!”

The Red Devils star, despite being a big name, isn’t the most technically gifted footballer on the continent, so it’s very possible that Bolingoli-Mbombo is the more aesthetically pleasing player to watch.

It’s still a very big shout by the imminent Celtic signing and now that his comments have been given extended circulation, he’ll have to back it up at Parkhead.

Bolingoli-Mbombo is a left-back by trade, but he can play left wing too and it’ll be interesting to see if where Lennon uses him. If the Hoops lose Kieran Tierney, the answer is obvious.
