Celtic face Motherwell for a third successive match on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic go up against Motherwell for the third time in just six days on Saturday afternoon after beating Stephen Robinson’s side 2-0 in the Betfred Cup final and drawing at Fir Park on Wednesday night.
In what promises to be a feisty affair, The Well will be desperate to exact revenge on the Hoops and end Brendan Rodgers’ 66-game unbeaten run in Scottish football after Robinson has seen his side suffer two controversial penalty decisions.
Firstly in the cup final, Cedric Kipre was sent off and Moussa Dembele scored the resulting penalty in what many have described as minimal contact from the 20-year-old defender. Andy Rose was then adjudged to have bundled over Callum McGregor – again a questionable decision.
Wednesday night’s decision from referee Willie Collum saved Celtic’s skin as Scott Sinclair equalised from the spot and the 28-year-old is expected to return to the side after being left on the bench by Rodgers on Wednesday night.
His expert penalty saw the impressive Trevor Carson dive the wrong way, scoring his 12th goal in 26 league and cup outings this season and 37th goal in the green and white of Celtic.
The former Aston Villa and Manchester City ace is expected to return to the side in one of two changes, with Man City loanee Patrick Roberts dropping out after he was withdrawn on Wednesday night in just the eleventh minute.
Rodgers could look to reshuffle a number of his star players after playing three games in less than a week . It should see Stuart Armstrong drop out, with Olivier Ntcham would be the most likely replacement, while the likes of Anthony Ralston and Moussa Dembele are likely to remain sidelined
