Celtic winger Liel Abada has only spent a few months in Scotland, but he’s already got his sights set on a move to Liverpool.

Celtic once again raided the Israeli market to sign Abada from Maccabi Petah TIkva over the summer.

The Bhoys have signed the likes of Efe Ambrose, Rami Gershon, Hatem Abd Elhamed, Ismaila Soro, Beram Kayal and Nir Bitton in recent memory, with all having ties to the Israeli game.

Abada hit 13 goals last season, tempting Celtic into a £3.5million deal.

Abada has shown huge potential with Celtic so far. With six goals and four assists in 15 games, the 20-year-old is contributing massively.

The winger has now told Sport5 back in Israel that he is focused on Celtic, but he would love to sign for Liverpool in the future.

Former Celtic men Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk took very different paths to get to Liverpool, and Abada has admitted his dream is to play for the Reds.

“My dream was and remains to play in England, in one of the teams in the Premier League,” said Abada. “The biggest dream is Liverpool, but I have to keep working hard here to prove myself,” he added.

Tottenham wanted Abada before Celtic move

Abada did also say he would love to play in England, and that could have happened over the summer.

Israeli news outlet One reported that Tottenham had shown a real interest in bringing Abada to London.

Tottenham didn’t firm up that interest with a bid, and that allowed Celtic to swoop in and strike a deal.

Maybe an intermediate move from Israel to Scotland makes more sense than Israel straight to the Premier League.

Liverpool and Tottenham would be wise to keep tabs on Abada’s progress at Celtic ahead of a possible future move.

For now though, Abada is a Celtic man and is delighted about it. Let’s hope he continues to fire for the Bhoys and become a firm fan favourite at Parkhead before possibly flying the nest.
