Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is set to leave the club on a free transfer with the Bhoys now set to terminate his contract.
The Daily Record claim that Celtic have triggered a clause in the contract Griffiths signed last summer.
Griffiths signed a one-year deal, but Celtic seemingly had the option to terminate his deal in the January transfer window.
Celtic are believed to have informed Griffiths of their decision, leaving the striker in limbo over his future.
It’s stated that Griffiths will at least stay with loans club Dundee until the end of January.
Dundee had planned to send Griffiths back to Celtic, but manager James McPake wants to keep hold of him a little longer after learning that the Bhoys are letting him go.
If Dundee don’t choose to keep Griffiths any longer, he will be free to move on and find another club.
This is a sad fall for Griffiths, who smashed 40 goals in all competitions during the 2015-16 season.
His full record for Celtic now stands at 123 goals in 261 games, a truly superb record in green and white hoops since Neil Lennon signed him in January 2014.

It hasn’t always been easy for Griffiths though. The striker took time out of football in 2018 to deal with issues away from the game, as confirmed by Brendan Rodgers.
Griffiths has kept coming back though, hitting 12 goals in the 2019-20 campaign to again show his worth in front of goal.
Ange Postecoglou hasn’t been convinced though, and sanctioned the deal to send Griffiths on loan to Dundee in August.
Now 31, Griffiths isn’t exactly finished – he still has plenty to offer if a club can get him fit and firing.
A club will surely take a punt on Griffiths on a free transfer, but Celtic have decided there is no way back for him at Parkhead.
