Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers lost to Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic at Celtic Park on Sunday, as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has been linked with the Ibrox club.
Rangers suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
It was one of the worst performances from Graeme Murty’s side this season, and saw Brendan Rodgers’s team win the league title in style.
The result also means that Rangers are now in danger of missing out on the runners-up spot in the Scottish Premiership table this season.
Former Celtic striker McAvennie, who had two separate spells at Celtic Park, has mocked Rangers on Twitter and has trolled Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard, who played under current Celtic manager Rodgers at Liverpool, is reportedly a managerial target for Rangers.
According to BBC Sport, Rangers and the former England international midfielder have held talks.
It has also been reported that Gerrard is keen on becoming the new Gers boss in the summer.
