The long serving goalkeeper expects Brendan Rodgers to be ruthless in Celtic’s quest for continued glory.
Celtic keeper Craig Gordon has revealed that the fear of being dropped by manager Brendan Rodgers keeps every member of the team on top of their game in the quest for constant success, according to BT Sport.
The Hoops completed an unprecedented ‘double treble’ on Saturday after triumphing over Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final – securing their sixth title of an available six since the appointment of the former Liverpool boss.
The Scottish international has lavished praise on Rodger’s high-pressure tactics and asserts that it will do everyone good in the long-run, as they aim to win every domestic accolade again next term.
“He makes sure everybody knows exactly what’s expected of them, from the players right through the staff. It makes everything easier for us to go out on the pitch and perform.
“We’re all easily replaced and we all know that, so we have to keep our standards high to make sure we’re still in his plans.”
The 35-year-old goalkeeper, given his age is more aware than most that his performance levels and work-rate must be at peak form if he wishes to remain in the first-team on a regular basis.
A busy summer awaits the defending champions, and anyone not showing the desire to succeed and improve will fall down the pecking order in favour of someone who will. It’s clear Rodgers isn’t resting on his laurels after this season’s achievements and is looking to build a dynasty at Celtic Park.
