Luka Modric has hailed Celtic fans having spoken to Bhoys defender Josip Juranovic after Real Madrid’s 3-0 win at Celtic Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s men played host to Real Madrid on Tuesday night – and actually held some hope of springing a surprise.

Celtic have been simply sensational this season and having hammered Rangers 4-0, few – even Real Madrid – would fancy a trip to Celtic Park.

In the first half, Celtic really took the game to Real and had a couple of real opportunities to open the scoring.

Celtic didn’t take those chances and were made to pay.

Vinicius Junior, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard all scored to secure a 3-0 win for Real, with the scoreline somewhat flattering Real even though they did take control in the second half.

Luka Modric has hailed Celtic fans

It’s hard to really expect Celtic to just go and beat Real Madrid, but the level of performance under Ange Postecoglou must delight fans.

Celtic’s group stage rivals won’t fancy a trip to Glasgow, with Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig surely wary of the quality under Postecoglou.

Add in the incredible atmosphere generated by Celtic fans and a trip to Parkhead will be daunting for the Bhoys’ Champions League rivals.

Even Real Madrid players were blown away by the Celtic Park atmosphere, and you can hardly say that they don’t know the experience of games!

Luka Modric tweeted that it was a ‘special atmosphere’ at Celtic and he has also spoken to a current Bhoys star.

Modric knows Celtic defender Josip Juranovic from international duty with Croatia and the pair have exchanged words after Tuesday’s game.

Juranovic has told The Glasgow Times that he spoke to Modric after the game and the Real Madrid ace stated that the Celtic fans were ‘amazing’.

Juranovic hailed Modric as a ‘really good player’ but added that Celtic need to continue playing as they did in the first half against Real.

“I spoke with him after the game,” said Juranovic. “He was telling me that the crowd was amazing and that we played good, first half especially, and that we need to continue like that.”

“What can I say? He’s captain of my national team, a really good person and you saw [on Tuesday night] that he’s a really good player, too,” he added.
