Celtic seemingly won’t sign Jordan Larsson despite rumours linking the Swedish striker with an emotional move to Parkhead.

The Bhoys do have a number of attacking options at their disposal with Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis all in contention.

Yet with Ange Postecoglou leading Celtic into the Champions League, the Bhoys may be in the market for more attacking firepower.

There have been links to the likes of Ryan Mmaee and Stephen Odey, but one deal that Celtic fans would love to see surrounds Jordan Larsson.

Celtic seemingly won’t sign Jordan Larsson

Larsson is the son of Celtic legend Henrik Larsson and fans have wanted to see him in the famous green and white hoops for years.

This summer has felt like Celtic’s best chance to actually make that dream a reality.

Larsson has left Spartak Moscow on a free transfer amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Reports in Russia last week suggested that Celtic were the most likely destination for Larsson.

Sadly, Sky Sports now claim that Celtic are unlikely to offer Larsson a contract and a move to Parkhead seemingly won’t be happening.

Larsson has approached Nottingham Forest about a potential move whilst other options in England, Germany and Italy are on the table.

It’s unclear just why Celtic are deciding to back away from Larsson but an emotional move seemingly isn’t a priority.

Larsson, 25, had the exact same start as his father; starting out at Hogaborgs before heading to Helsingborgs and then to the Netherlands; Henrik with Feyenoord and Jordan with NEC Nijmegen.

Jordan had to return to Sweden to get back on track and after 21 goals in 52 games for Norrkoping, Spartak snapped him up.

27 goals in 84 games in Russia isn’t a bad record at all and Larsson moved back to Sweden on loan with AIK earlier this year.

Available for free, this seemed like a potentially exciting, cheap deal for Larsson to follow in his father’s footsteps with a move to Glasgow.

Ange Postecoglou and co seemingly have other ideas and this dream of Larsson joining Celtic will have to be parked again.
