Celtic have been linked with a move for Lampard following his dismissal by Chelsea
Pundits have been lining up to offer their thoughts on what comes next for Frank Lampard, but few know him better than his uncle.
West Ham legend Harry Redknapp believes a move to Celtic could prove tempting for his nephew, who would come up against former England team-mate Steven Gerrard.
Since being dismissed by Chelsea on Monday, Lampard has joined the likes of Eddie Howe and Rafa Benitez in being linked with the Celtic job.
Neil Lennon remains in the dugout ahead of Wednesday night’s match against Hamilton Accies, but he has been the subject of considerable pressure in a season that’s seen his side exit three cup competitions and fall 23 points behind Rangers in the title race.
Speaking to Record Sport, Redknapp said: “That’s certainly something that would interest any manager. It’s a great football club to come and manage, that’s for sure.
“Neil Lennon is still there so I wouldn’t want to talk too much about someone else taking his job but obviously it would be interesting to see Frank in direct opposition to Steven Gerrard.
“I don’t know whether, if the Celtic job came up, it would be something that would interest Frank. Obviously Neil Lennon is still in charge and I wouldn’t want to see him lose his job.
“Would Frank want to jump straight back in if it did become available? I wouldn’t know.
“But you could certainly see the appeal.”
Lampard has been replaced at Stamford Bridge by Thomas Tuchel, who was previously in charge at PSG and Borussia Dortmund.
Celtic are yet to win a game in 2021, having lost to Rangers in the New Year derby before drawing against Hibs and twice against Livingston.
