Celtic had a fairly quiet deadline day, but midfielder Ismaila Soro almost ended up leading the club for a move to the Netherlands with Fortuna Sittard.
There was no Aaron Ramsey-style arrival at Parkhead, with Ange Postecoglou now hoping he has enough to win the title.
Celtic could have secured one exit before the deadline though as midfielder Soro was the subject of interest.
As reported by Football Scotland, Fortuna Sittard were chasing a deal to sign Soro on loan for the rest of the season.
Celtic would have paid just under half of Soro’s wages, and there would have been a permanent option included too.
The deadline passed without Soro leaving Celtic though, and his future at Parkhead looks a little uncertain given the openness to a deal.
Ange Postecoglou has admitted that no work permit was the problem for Soro, who is now available for Celtic games.
This is quite the turnaround for Soro, who was linked with a stunning move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
The Daily Mail reported in April of 2021 that Tottenham were eyeing up Soro for a potential move to North London.

Tottenham allegedly weren’t deterred by Soro’s lack of starts at Celtic, believing he had huge potential as a holding midfielder.
Soro, 23, has played 18 times this season but now finds himself down the Celtic pecking order – hardly the billing of a player set for Tottenham.
You would also expect Tottenham to be targeted players of a quality some way behind Fortuna Sittard, who sit 17th in the Eredivisie table.
That rumours looks absolutely bizarre now, and Soro’s Premier League chance may have gone now struggling Dutch clubs are his man avenue out of Celtic.
