Celtic are now eyeing an emotional move to sign Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Bologna forward Sydney van Hooijdonk could follow in the footsteps of his father by signing for Celtic.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, who claims that Van Hooijdonk is on the Celtic radar.
Joseph adds that Van Hooijdonk’s future at Bologna is ‘uncertain’ ahead of the transfer deadline.
Bundesliga club Wolfsburg had made a move for Van Hooijdonk but no move has advanced on that front.
Van Hooijdonk came up in the NAC Breda ranks, smashing 23 goals in 70 games to earn himself a 2021 move to Bologna.
A lack of playing time resulted in a January 2022 loan move to Heerenveen, which ended up being an 18-month deal.
Van Hooijdonk once again showed off his goalscoring ability, racking up 25 goals in 52 appearances for the Eredivisie side.
Now back with Bologna, Van Hooijdonk could yet be sold before the transfer deadline.

Sydney van Hooijdonk would surely jump at Celtic move
The name value alone will make Celtic fans dream of seeing this transfer go through.
Van Hooijdonk is the son of former Celtic hero Pierre van Hooijdonk, who smashed 56 goals in 92 appearances for the Bhoys.
The Dutchman joined Celtic from NAC Breda way back in 1995 before leaving for Nottingham Forest just two years later.

Pierre is still loved by Celtic fans and that connection has carried down to Sydney too.
Van Hooijdonk junior has previously posted photos on his Instagram from Celtic Park, decked out in the famous green and white hoops.
That emotional connection will surely mean a lot to Van Hooijdonk and may tempt him into joining Celtic even if Wolfsburg want him.
This would be an emotional move for Celtic, Sydney and Pierre with fans no doubt hoping that the Dutch hitman does finalise a move to Glasgow in the coming days.
